*Using wood to make paper is a recent innovation. In the 1800s, fiber crops such as linen fibers were the primary material source, and paper was a relatively expensive commodity. The use of wood to make pulp for paper began with the development of mechanical pulping in Germany by F.G. Keller in the 1840s. Chemical processes quickly followed, first with J. Roth\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s use of sulfurous acid to treat wood, followed by B. Tilghman\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s US patent on the use of calcium bisulfite, Ca(HSO3)2, to pulp wood in 1867.

*North India Printers Association (NIPA) decided to sign cooperation agreement with the China Print Show Company to promote the Print China 2011 show at Dongguan.

*Registration for the next batch is open now. NIPA Educational Trust has made arrangements for the training of print professionals and teachers in printing in collaboration with the Glasgow Metropolitan College at Scotland UK. This 8-week training is specially designed for the existing print professionals to top-up their knowledge with the latest trends and technology in Printing and Packaging.

*Mr Ramesh Chander Consul General of India in Edinburgh visited the students of Specialist Short Course for Print Professionals at Glasgow Metropolitan College, Scotland UK where this batch of 8 students are getting 8 week training. This short course is especially designed by the North India Printers’ Association (NIPA) for the print professionals considering the fact that the professionals engaged in the printing, packaging industry cannot afford to go in for a long-term training because of the socio economical problems, and it may not be possible for a unit to spare its professionals for a long time. Appreciating the efforts of NIPA, Mr. Chander said, it is a more practical way to give advance training to the print professionals to cope with the global competition. It is a unique course for the overall development of Newspapers, Printing and Packaging industries of India. Welcoming the first batch of 8 students from India Mr. Chander who was the Chief Guest at the Induction ceremony of the batch at Glasgow also invited the students to visit Edinburgh during their short stay at UK.

Deadline
Booking deadlines: 4 weeks from the date of publication
Copy deadlines: 3 weeks from the date of publication
Cancellation: Cancellation will not be accepted after booking. If a copy is not submitted by copy deadline existing copy will be re peated or in the absence of an existing copy, the space booked will be filled at our discretion.

Payments Accounts must be settled within 30 days from the date of publication/bill. Payment should be made by crossed demand draft in the name of PUNJAB PRINT, payable at Ludhiana.
